I have just received via e-mail notification that Halifax is to be the site of another public meeting on the status of free speech. This in addition to the recently announced symposium at King’s College.

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Public Affairs is presenting a debate at St Mary’s University on 30 October.

There does not yet appear to be any more info at CCEPA’s website, but no doubt it’s coming. In the meantime, browse the site for lots of other interesting stuff.

Since all four of the debaters have taken definite public stances on the role and value of human rights commissions in Canada, this shapes up as a genuine debate. Indeed, in view of the fact that the Halifax Chronicle-Herald has been hauled before the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission for publishing the brilliant cartoon at the top, there could be some fireworks heated discussion.
