Wisdom From the Desert

"A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him saying, 'You are mad, you are not like us'." --- St Antony of Egypt

Jennifer Lynch butts into Remembrance Day Ceremony

by Scott Gilbreath ~ November 10th, 2008

Travesty alert!

The egregious Jennifer Lynch, head of the Canadian “Human Rights” Commission, has somehow managed to wangle an invitation to lay a wreath at tomorrow’s National Remembrance Day Ceremony.  Is this supposed to make the agency appear patriotic and freedom-loving?  If so, it’s not going to work.

Ms Lynch appears set to pull off a manifestly political stunt designed to improve CHRC’s public image at the expense of the integrity of Canada’s Remembrance Day observation.

This is an outrage and an insult to Canada’s veterans and their families.  My father served in Europe during World War II, and he did not take up arms against Nazi Germany so that some nanny-state bureaucracy could protect hyper-sensitive souls from being offended.  He served to protect our real freedoms—speech, press, religion—that the CHRC now seems intent on undermining.

Ezra Levant reminds us that the CHRC has “investigators” who impersonate Nazis online, none of whom has thus far been disciplined for such unCanadian activity.  He also suggests we tell Veterans Affairs Minister Greg Thompson what we think of Lynch’s latest stunt.
