"A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him saying, 'You are mad, you are not like us'." --- St Antony of Egypt

Malaysian state hires pensioners to blog

by Scott Gilbreath ~ November 23rd, 2008

Authorities in the Malaysian state of Pahang are so upset by “slanderous comments” on the internet that the government has hired three pensioners to write respectful blog posts.

The Pahang Government has appointed three pensioners as bloggers to thwart slanderous comments and allegations posted on the Internet.

State Information, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin said the bloggers, who would be paid allowances, would be provided with computers and the Internet access in their homes.

Sounds like a great gig.  Where does one apply?

Malaysian blogger Lillian Chan, aka The Obnoxious 5xmom, points out the obvious: The government can pay geezers pensioners to blog, but it can’t make readers believe what they write.
