Damaskenos, Christ the High PriestThe collect for today, the Sunday next before Advent, also known as the Feast of Christ the King, from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer:

Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For the Epistle: Jeremiah 23:5-8
The Gospel: St John 6:5-14

    Glad to see your back to using the 1662 for Stir Up Sunday.:)

    Incidentally, I met our new neighbors (your old house) a little more formally today. They have been attending Riverdale for a few months now. Today was the first decent discussion that I’ve been able to have with them though.

    Thanks, Chris. Actually, the 1662 BCP collect was an oversight; I plan to post collects from the 1962 Canadian BCP. I haven’t done a word-by-word comparison but, as far as I have noticed, the collects in those two prayer books are the same.

    I’m glad to hear the folks who moved into our house go to Riverdale Baptist.
