34 votes are enough for a seat in Romania’s Parliament
by Scott Gilbreath ~ December 4th, 2008
Romania has a new and complicated voting system, but it seems to work just dandy for at least one candidate.
A candidate in Romania’s general election has won a seat in parliament with only 34 votes.
Jozsef Koto, of Romania’s ethnic Hungarian union, UDMR, was awarded the seat in the lower chamber after running in a constituency for Romanians living abroad.
The Green Party should push for implementation of Romania’s system here in Canada. It could be their only hope of winning a seat in the House of Commons.
