John Sentamu’s Christmas message
Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu’s Christmas message is printed this year in, of all places, The Sun.
School Nativity plays can speak to all of us.
Like the star that led the wise men to the stable, the re-enactment of the Nativity story guides us to an understanding of the true meaning of Christmas. Many of us get lost along the way in the shopping, the cards, the food and the presents but the Nativity reminds us that at the heart of Christmas is the power of a simple story.
Christmas is about the coming of God’s light into darkness and the triumph of hope over fear. In our uncertain economic times, where fear is an undercurrent in our homes and places of work as the financial climate worsens, this message of hope shines out as our own guiding star.
Amen. Read the whole thing.
