Elizabeth May finally gets the concept

Look, over there: It's my ridingGreen Party leader Elizabeth May (at right) chose to run against high-profile and popular Conservative MP Peter MacKay and lost. (But it wasn’t her fault.) Since her defeat, the approval ratings of both her party and herself have suffered.

Suddenly she’s had a brainstorm.

May says she finally has come to accept that winning a riding is absolutely essential. “I see the importance, where I did not in the past. Yes, I have to get elected, that’s clear in my mind.”

That Elizabeth May has a mind like a steel trap. Never let it be said that she doesn’t grasp the fundamentals of parliamentary democracy.

Nevertheless, as many failed politicians can tell her, knowing that winning a riding is essential is not quite the same as actually winning one.
