Dion: “Feeling No Pain”

This hidden gem, recorded in 1962 for a film that was never released, Ten Girls Ago, features the great Dion singing “Feeling No Pain”. He co-wrote the song and produced a version by The del Satins that was released in 1963. The del Satins were the back-up group on many of Dion’s 1960s Columbia recordings, including “Runaround Sue”.
The del Satins’ version (also posted at YouTube) has a pop-rock doo-wop arrangement, whereas Dion goes for a big-band sound.

Are you struck by the mismatch between the lyrics versus his clothes and the little kids on the dance floor? Dion is indeed from my time, but this seems just a bit weird.
I assume the filmmakers thought Dion’s wardrobe and the kids were just fine. Maybe that indicates why the film was never released.
