"A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him saying, 'You are mad, you are not like us'." --- St Antony of Egypt

See Barney spin

by Scott Gilbreath ~ April 24th, 2009

Compare and contrast these two video clips of US Rep. Barney Frank.

A few days ago on PBS’s Tavis Smiley Show, he blamed unnamed “conservatives” for mass housing foreclosures in the United States.  They “pushed” people into buying houses they couldn’t afford. don’t ya know?  He, on the other hand, has advocated affordable rental housing all along.

Morgen at Verum Serum smelled a rat, so he dug up this clip of Mr Frank speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives in 2005, in which he pooh-poohs “an excessive degree of concern” about a housing bubble.  Ain’t gonna happen, he confidently asserts.  He will “continue to push for home ownership”.

Barney sounds like one of those pushy conservatives.

As Morgen says, Mr Frank is trying to whitewash his own participation in the events leading up the US housing market disaster and “push” the blame entirely onto conservatives.  Rave on, Barney.
