Malaysian officials linked to human trafficking

100 churches ordered closed in Rangoon, Burma

Christian Solidarity Worldwide has received reports from Burma (Myanmar) that local authorities in Rangoon (Yangon), the country’s former capital, are ordering churches to stop holding worship services and threatening to jail disobedient pastors. As many as 80 percent of the city’s churches could be affected.

Burmese blogger sentenced to 20 years

A special court holding session behind closed doors inside a Burmese prison today sentenced a young blogger named Nay Phone Latt (at right) to 20 years and 6 months incarceration.  Also, poet Saw Wai, received a two-year term for a poem containing concealed ridicule of Senior General Than Shwe, head of the governing military junta.
