Jennifer McSwain of Hay River, Northwest Territories, is one happy lady because the NWT Human Rights Commission has ruled in her favour. In March 2006, John Rooney called Jules Bertiboni in response to a newspaper ad for an apartment to rent. Mr Rooney subsequently claimed that Mr Bertiboni called him a “tapette” (”fag”) on the phone.

Ted Kindos, owner of Gator Ted’s Tap and Grill in Burlington, Ontario, asked Steve Gibson not to smoke marijuana at the front door of his establishment.
